The Lancer women's basketball team earned a hard fought 67-63 win over the No. 7 Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon on the road.

With the win, the Lancers improve to 5-3 on the season and sit atop the OUA west division standings, while the Badgers move to 5-2 and are in a three way tie for first place in the central division.

Windsor was led by
Cheyanne Roger with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Sophomore
Carly Steer came off the bench to contribute 17 points, while rookie
Orian Amsalem  chipped in 10. Defensively, the Lancers were led by senior
Andrea Kiss who had a game high 15 rebounds.

The Badgers jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, before the Lancers answered with eight of the next 11 points, tying the game 11-11 after one quarter. With just under four minutes left in the second quarter, Brock led 30-26. Windsor closed out the second quarter with the the final eight points, leading 34-30 at the break.

In the third, the teams played an even 10 minutes with Windsor holding onto a four-point lead 48-44 after 30 minutes.

Windsor put together a 13-2 run in the first five minutes of the final quarter thanks to the hot hand of
Carly Steer who knocked down four straight three-pointers, to give the Lancers a 61-46 lead with 5:31 left in regulation. Brock would battle back, putting together a 14-2 run, to make it a three-point game 63-60 with less than a minute remaining. Windsor closed out the contest with four straight free throws escaping with a 67-63 road victory.

The Lancers will travel to Guelph on Friday night to take on the Gryphons before returning home on Saturday January 16th when they host the Algoma Thunderbirds at 6:00pm.Â
