The Lancer women's soccer team finished the 2016 regular season with two impressive road games against the York Lions and Guelph Gryphons.
Â
With a shutout victory over York and a scoreless draw against Guelph, the Lancers finished fourth overall in the OUA west division and will host the first round of the post season on Wednesday at Alumni Field.
Â
Saturday vs York, W 1-0
Â
The Lions dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting the Lancers 22-12. But Windsor goalkeeper
Kristina Brooks made 10 saves and midfielder
Paiten Stephens found the back of the net in the 94th minute to secure the three points just as time was about to expire.
Â
Sunday vs Guelph, T 0-0
Â
A win for the Lancers over the Gryphons would have secured third place overall for the Blue & Gold, while Guelph was fighting for victory as a win would have propelled them into second spot in the OUA West.
Â
The scoreless draw, however, left the standings unchanged as the Gryphons and Lancers finished second and third overall, respectively.
Â
Krystin Lawrence earned the shut-out in net for the Blue & Gold.
Â
Windsor will now host the first round of the OUA post season on Wednesday night at Alumni Field. Opponent and game time information will be released shortly, please stay tuned.
