Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Lancers split with UQTR

The Lancer men' s hockey team split a pair of road games against the UQTR Patriots this weekend in Quebec. Windsor fell 5-3 on Friday before rebounding on Saturday to win 6-5.

The team is now 5-3-0 on the year and sit in second place in the OUA west division, while UQTR hold the same record of 5-3-0 in the OUA east.

After UQTR opened the scoring off the opening faceoff, Dylan Seguin scored unassisted at 9:05 to tie the game.

Windsor's special teams exploded in the second period scoring two power play goals within one minute of each other. Accepting a pass from Justice Dundas and Todd Ratchford, Juliani Luciani potted the puck behind Patriots goaltender Sebastien Auger at 8:44 to tie the game at two.

Fifty-two seconds later rookie Brennan Feasey capitalized on another power play opportunity to give Windsor a 3-2 lead.

Before the period was out, however, the hosts tied it up at 12:07 to send the game into the final period 3-3.

In the third, the Patriots used home ice advantage to score three goals over five minutes, including a shorthanded marker, to take a three goal lead and take game one of the series, 6-3.

On Saturday, Sebastian Beauregard scored in the final minutes of the game to lift the Lancers over the Patriots 6-5.

UQTR opened the scoring with two quick goals before Chadd Bauman and Luciani scored in the first period to send the game tied at two into the second period.

Windsor took a two goal lead in the second period with two goals thirty seconds apart. Dundas accepted a pass from Tyson Ness and Luciani on the power play to go up by one, and just 30 seconds later Seguin scored his second of the weekend to put Windsor up by two heading into the third.

UQTR continued to press in the third scoring three goals in the final twenty minutes. Feasey scored his second of the weekend, to keep the Lancers in the game before Beaurgard secured the win for the Blue & Gold.

Windsor returns to the confines of South Windsor Arena next weekend when they host the Queen's Gaels for a double header. The puck drops at 7:30pm on both Friday and Saturday night, and can be seen live at www.oua.tv.
