Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball falls in Kingston

The Lancer men's volleyball team is still looking for their first win of the season after a pair of road games in Kingston over the weekend. Windsor fell 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 19-25) to the Queen's Gaels on Friday night, and then in four sets 3-1 (15-25, 25-20, 18-25, 19-25) to the RMC Paladins on Saturday.

Friday vs Queen's

The game opened strong for the Lancers with Windsor taking the first six points of the game. The Gaels called a timeout with the Lancers leading 8-4.The timeout jumpstarted the Gaels who came back to tie the game at eight following some sharp serving. Windsor put up some huge blocks not giving the Gaels any easy opportunities for a kill. At the technical timeout Queen's held a 16-15 lead, and they used their momentum from this to create a two point lead and carry themselves to victory. The Gaels took the first set, 25-19.

Queen's opened the second frame on a four point run and took an early 9-4 lead. Despite the Lancers best efforts, a timeout was called at 10-4 but it was not enough to regain their momentum to catch the Gaels. The final score of the game was 25-16 for the tricolour.

The third and final set saw both teams come out to play and the score was a direct reflection of it. The game remained neck and neck, 5-5 and 7-7 with neither team wanting to give up much ground. At a score of 8-7 the Gaels took a timeout and a larger lead, not letting the score get tied up again en route to a final score of 25-19.

Saturday vs RMC

The Lancers were still recovering from their loss the night before and four errors in the first set helped the host Paladins take the first set 25-15.

Windsor rebounded in the second set, and some key kills from sophomore Brad Gyemi helped the Lancers dominate the set and take the game 25-20.

However, the Lancers were not able to carry that momentum through the next two sets as the Paladins won the third and fourth sets 25-18 and 25-19, respectively.

Gyemi led the way for the Blue & Gold with 20 kills, while John Moate chipped in 10. First year Lancer Nolan Langley had 37 assists, while rookie Josh Rankine led the way defensively with 17 digs.
