In a hard fought battle on Saturday afternoon at the St. Denis Centre, the Lancer men's volleyball team lost a heart-breaking five set match to the visiting Ryerson Rams.
Â
The 3-2 (25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 23-25, 13-15) loss leaves the Lancers still searching for their first win of the 2016-17 season, while the Rams improve to one game above .500 with a 4-3 record.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers shocked the Rams early with a convincing 25-21 first set victory but returned for the second set looking rather complacent for a 16-25 loss. They rebounded with a 25-23 third set win but was unable to pull ahead of the Rams in the remaining two sets and evidently suffered their fifth straight loss this season.
Â
Brad Gyemi and
Adam Child were a handful for the Rams with their effective play on the block and attack. Gyemi put up a team best 17 kills with Child not far behind with 12. Gyemi has been the Lancers number one option all season long and is responsible for nearly half of the teams' total kills. The Lancers went to him a game high 55 times but the Rams eventually slowed him down in the final two sets en route to victory.
