Windsor earns 3 points in weekend road trip

In their final road trip of the 2016 calendar year, the Lancer men's hockey team came home with three points in the OUA standings. The Lancers earned a 4-1 win over the Brock Badgers on Friday night before falling 3-2 in double overtime to the York Lions on Saturday night. 

Windsor heads into their final weekend of competition with an 8-6-2 record, good enough to be tired for third place in the west division. 

FRIDAY
Windsor opened the scoring just 3:04 into the game when Chadd Baumann buried a powerplay goal from Dylan Denomme and Steve Anthony to give the Lancers an early 1-0 lead that they would hold for the rest of the period.

In the second period, Windsor extended their lead to 2-0, on a Blake Blondeel goal with assists from Mike Christou and Dylan Seguin at 6:45.

The Lancers would further extend their lead to 3-0 at 14:29 of the third period on their second powerplay goal of the night, this time coming from Ian Foubert with assists from Kyle Hope and Sebastian Beauregard.

Brock's lone tally came at 17:51 in the third period when Chris Maniccia scored a powerplay goal with assists from Sammy Banga and Adam Llyod.

Windsor would add an empty netter from Justice Dundas at 18:56.

In goal, Windsor's Blake Richard stopped 19 of 20 shots in the victory, while Brock's Adam Beukeboom stopped 31 of 34 shots.

SATURDAY
The Lancers built a two goal lead midway through the second period with goals from Justice Dundas and Ian Faubert before the Lions replied with a pair of their own to send the game into overtime. 

Derek Sheppard scored the winner for the host Lions two minutes in to the second overtime period. 

Kris Joyce made 28 saves in net for the Blue & Gold, while Mack Shields had 20 saves to earn the win.

UP NEXT
Windsor will now host the Nipissing Lakers next weekend at South Windsor Arena. On Friday December 2nd, the Lancers and Lakers will face off in a special community outreach game as they bring awareness to local youth as part of the "Lancers Against Bullying" program. Game time of Friday is 12:30pm. They will then face-off again on Saturday December 3rd at 4:00pm. Both games can be seen live on www.oua.tv.
