Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Lancers sweep Lakers in weekend series

The Lancer men's hockey team came home with a 2-1 victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday afternoon at South Windsor Arena in their second game of the weekend, sweeping the weekend series.

The win moves the Lancers to third place in the OUA west division with a 10-6-2 record, while the Lakers fall to 5-11-1 and sit in 9th in the east division.

The Lancers picked up where they left off Friday afternoon, getting on the board early in the game scoring two power play goals. First Konnor Haas fired one in from the high slot behind Nipissing goaltender Talor Joseph at 15:08, and about a minute and a half later Todd Ratchford fired a shot in from the point, accepting a perfect pass that was set up by Steve Anthony and Dylan Denomme.

Following a scoreless second period, the third period was almost as uneventful with the frame's lone game coming at 7:07 from Danny Desrochers.

Blake Richard was in net for the Lancers making 39 saves for the win, while Talor Joseph took the loss for the visiting Lakers with 34 saves.

The Lancers now break for the holidays and will be back in action in Guelph on Tuesday January 3rd to face off against the Gryphons. The puck will drop at 7:30pm and can be seen live on oua.tv.
