The Lancer men's basketball team defeated the Western Mustangs 78-72 in their final road game of the OUA regular season on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Hall in London.
 
With the win, the Lancers remain in first place in the OUA west division standings with a 12-6 record, while the Mustangs fall to 9-9 and sit in second place behind the Lancers.
 
As always, it was a tight game between the Blue & Gold and their rivals from up the 401. The Lancers jumped out to a 22-17 lead after the first quarter before the Mustangs out-scored Windsor 15-9 in the second to lead by just one point at the half, 32-21.
 
The Lancers opened the second half with a 9-0 run, with seven of those points coming from fifth year senior Alex Campbell. The Mustangs battled back late in the quarter to take the lead but the Lancers fought back and led by four heading into the final quarter.
 
Mike Rocca opened the fourth with a pair of three-pointers that lifted the Blue & Gold ahead of the Mustangs for the final time in the game.
 
Campbell led the Blue & Gold with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Isiah Osborne had 19 points, Tyler Persaud had 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Rocca finished with 11.
 
The Lancers close out the regular season next weekend when they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves at 8:30pm on Saturday February 27th and the Algoma Thunderbirds on Sunday February 28th at 4:00pm.
