The Lancer men's soccer team split a pair of road games this past weekend in Waterloo, ON. The Blue & Gold shut out the Laurier Golden Hawks 2-0 in a rainy contest on Saturday, before falling 2-1 against the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday.

Windsor is continues to remain tied with the Golden Hawks for fourth place in the OUA west division with a 3-3-1 record.

Seemingly undisturbed by the consistent rainfall and hail, the Hawks and the Lancers were quick to match each other's offensive and defensive strategies. From the opening whistle, the two teams appeared evenly matched, with neither team enjoying more possession or crafting many more scoring chances than the other.

The breakthrough came in the middle of the first half. Despite Laurier's consistent ball possession, they were unable to convert their seven shots of the half into any goals. As Windsor brought the ball back up the field, Lancers striker
Iyowuna Jumbo buried the ball past Laurier's starting goalkeeper Rocco Strazzella, to give the Lancers a 1-0 lead.

Looking to increase their one goal cushion, Windsor poured on the offensive pressure like the rain poured down on both teams. Minutes later,
Jamar Redhead enabled the Lancers to pick up their second goal of the game to dig Laurier into a 2-0 hole; a lead which Windsor maintained through to the end of the game.

On Sunday, the Lancers were unable to earn another three points against the Warriors, who won just their second game of the year.

Windsor will finally return home this coming weekend when they host the York Lions on Saturday night at 8:00pm, and the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm at Alumni Field.

More to come.
