Remaining undefeated in 2017, the Lancer men's basketball team defeated the Western Mustangs 85-78 on Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre.

The win keeps the Lancers four points ahead of the Laurier Golden Hawks and in first place in the OUA west division with a 7-4 record, while the Mustangs fall to 2-9 on the season.

Windsor came out strong to open the game and led 21-16 after the first quarter. The Lancers continued to control the game to start the second, but the Mustangs came back late in the frame to outscore Windsor by one. The Lancers held a narrow, 35-32 lead at the half.

Luke Allin had a solid first half for the Lancers scoring 12 points in the first twenty minutes of play, while Western's Jedson Tavrnier finished the half with 11 points.

In the second half,
Mitch Farrell propelled the Lancers ahead of the Mustangs, scoring all 13 of his points in the final twenty minutes. He finished with the games on double-double adding 11 rebounds to his point total. Â

Allin finished the day with a team high 21 points and 8 rebounds, while
Mike Rocca chipped in 14 points, and
Tyler Persaud and
Micqueel Martin put up 10 and 11 points, respectively.

The Lancers will now head up to London on Saturday afternoon for game two of a home-and-home series with the Mustangs. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm and can be seen at
