The Lancer men's hockey team took a tough 9-1 loss to the Ryerson Rams Saturday afternoon in Toronto.
Â
The loss moves the Lancers to 11-11-2 on the season and into a tie for fourth place with the Laurier Golden Hawks, while the Rams won their fourth straight and improved to 17-4-1 to remain atop the OUA west division standings.
Â
Ryerson struck first when Windsor allowed a turnover in front of their net just 4:46 into the first period. The Lancers tied it up at 13:34 after a cross-ice pass was deflected off a Ryerson stick and back into the hands of Sebastian Beaureguard who passed it off nicely to
Chad Shepley for the goal.
Â
Unfortunately, Ryerson answered back with a power play goal just 34 seconds later to close out the first period with a score of 2-1.
Â
From then on it was all Ryerson, as Windsor spent a total of 26 minutes in the penalty box, and allowing 5 power play goals.
Â
Shots on goal were equally matched throughout the game, with both teams ending up with 33, but it was Ryerson who came out on top with the win.
Â
Lancers will be on the road Wednesday January 25th to play the Western Mustangs at 7:00pm in London before returning home on Friday January 27th for their final regular season home game.
