Vallee earns 200th win with victory over Ottawa

Head coach Chantal Vallee won her 200th regular season career Saturday night when the No. 6 Lancer women's basketball team defeated the visiting Ottawa Gee Gees 63-47 at the St. Denis Centre.

In her twelve years with the Blue & Gold, Coach Vallee has amassed an overall regular season record of 200-53, and an amazing overall record which includes regular season, playoffs, and exhibition of 323-94. She, alongside long time assistant coach Tom Foster, has led the Lancers to five national championships and a national silver medal, in addition to six OUA championships, and a pair of OUA silver and bronze medals.

With Saturday's victory, Windsor continues to remain atop the west division standings with a 13-3 record while the Gee Gees fell to 10-4 and sit in second place in the OUA north division.

Emily Prevost led the way for the Blue & Gold with one of the game's two double-doubles with 16 points and 18 rebounds. Cheyanne Roger also put up 16 points while adding 10 points. Ottawa was led by Amelie Hachey and Sarah Besselink with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The game was also part of the Lancers 10th annual breast cancer awareness day, and the department of athletics would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all fans who participated throughout the day to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

The Blue & Gold are now off until February 8th when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks in the Clash at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor at 3:00pm. Fans can purchase their tickets from the athletic department next week, Monday –Friday,  from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Lancer season ticket holders are also asked to exchange their current ticket for February 8th for a Clash game ticket. This can also be done at the athletic department.
