The Lancer men's soccer season came to an end Wednesday night following a 2-0 loss to the Guelph Gryphons in the OUA first round at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
 
The Gryphons were sharp from the beginning, scoring early and then keeping a clean sheet to advance to the OUA quarter-finals.
 
Windsor's best scoring opportunity came just before the half. A Lancers' corner from the right ended up at Patrick Sikora's feet and the Windsor midfielder unleashed a hard shot that took a slight deflection. Guelph goaltender Simon Norgrove dove far to his left and knocked it out for another corner, preserving the 2-nil lead.
 
Lancer goaltender Kyle Vizirakis faced four shots in his final game in net for the Blue & Gold.
 
Under first year head coach Steve Vagnini, Windsor finished the season sixth overall in the OUA west division to advance to the post season.
