The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team went in today's home game against the Varsity Blues looking to rid the awful taste left by a stunning loss to the Western Mustangs last night in Windsor. The Lancers can officially proclaim mission accomplished after a decisive 2-0 victory over Toronto Saturday night.

GAME STATS
Both goaltenders put on a clinic, saving 30+ shots each. Windsor's Johnathan Reinhart got the win in a 35-shot shutout while Toronto's Fredric Foulem put up an admirable effort with 38 saves on 40 shots.

Both teams played a physical game, accumulating 42 penalty minutes combined. The Lancers were responsible for 28 of those minutes while Toronto players spent 14 minutes in the box.

The Lancers penalty kill had a productive day, killing all nine penalties it faced. The Blues only gave up one short-handed goal on their six penalty kill opportunities.Â

GAME FLOW
The Lancers got on the board early when
Kyle Hope beat Varsity Blues goalie Foulem on a power play. Hope picked up assists from Taylor Ryan and
Chris Scott. The Lancers got on the board again at the 17:43 mark of the second period when
Kody Gagnon beat Foulem off assists from
Kyle Haas and
Adam Burnett.

The Lancers were able to keep up the pace and control the game. The Lancers offensive assault was supported on the back end by a great effort from Reinhart, who stopped all 35 shots he faced to earn a shutout in the 2-0 victory for the Lancers.
