In their final home games of the regular season the Lancer women's hockey team split a pair of games at South Windsor Arena.

The Blue & Gold shut out the Queen's Gaels 3-0 on Friday night before falling 3-2 to the UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday afternoon.

Heading into their final weekend of the season, the Lancers are 10-1-9-2 and are in a three way tie for sixth place in the OUA standings.

FRIDAY
Despite being off for almost three weeks, the Lancers got off to a very quick start as
Larissa Borowiec knocked home a goal a minute into the game with assists being credited to
Shawna Lesperance and
Jillian Rops.
Â
The remainder of the first period was pretty quiet, but the Lancers got back to work in the second as
Kennedy Snively and
Jillian Rops scored to put the Lancers up 3-0 heading into the third.

Morgan Farrow played amazing for the Lancers in the win making 16 saves, while Stephanie Pascal made 25 saves in net for the Gaels.

SATURDAY
Prior to the game, the Lancers honoured their graduating seniors
Jillian Rops,
Erinn Noseworthy, Natalie Barette,
Sloan Kudrinko,
Shawna Lesperance, and
Ingrid Sandven.

UOIT struck first just over three minutes into the game on a goal from Alex Frigon. Their lead did not last very long though as
Krystin Lawrence tied the game up just minutes later, with assists going to
Emily Bowman and
Reagan Kaufman.

In the second period UOIT took the lead at 6:09 of the second on a goal scored by Nicole Lopresti.

Late in the third, Windsor tied it up with 5:46 to play on a goal mouth scramble where
Meredith Goldhawk banged it in to tie the game up.

With time closing out, both teams applied pressure vying for the winning goal. In a scramble in front of the Lancer net UOIT scored a fluke goal earning the 3-2 win.

Farrow had another solid day in net for the Blue & Gold making 24 saves, while Briar Hughes made 28 stops for the Ridgebacks.

The Lancers closer out the regular season on the road next weekend with a pair of games against the Guelph Gryphons (Sat Feb. 18 2:00pm) and the Laurier Golden Hawks (Sun Feb. 19 7:30pm).
