In a rare Friday morning game, the Lancer football team headed up to Waterloo to play in Laurier's School Day Game. In windy and rainy conditions, the Lancers fell to the host Hawks 39-24.

The Lancers fall to 1-6 on the season, while Laurier improves to 4-3. Windsor will host the McMaster Marauders on Saturday, October 20th in their final game of the 2018 regular season.

Sam Girard finished the game 25-for-40 for 262 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Dan Stirling led the Lancers defensive effort with eight tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup

Laurier's Kurleigh Gittens Jr. had a record setting day for the host Hawks. A reception late in the first quarter secured Gittens Jr. the OUA's record for most career receptions with 193. He surpassed former Lancer Jordan Brescacin who finished his outstanding career with 192. Gittens Jr. would finish the game with eight total receptions, making him just the fifth player in U SPORTS history to reach 200 receptions in a career.

GAME FLOW
Laurier came out strong and jumped out to a 13-0 lead with a 36-yard touchdown run from Levondre Gordon and a pair of field goals from Nathan Mesher.

However, Windsor turned the game around in the second quarter as they outscored the Hawks 19-5 thanks in part to touchdowns from
Alex Bornais and
Cody Knights. Windsor led 19-15 heading into the half.

Laurier turned things around again the third with a pair of back-to-back touchdowns midway through the frame.

Clark Green would net a 26-yard field goal in the fourth but a prir of Laurier field goals would seal the win for the host Hawks.
