The Lancer women's soccer team put in quite the effort Friday night against the third place York Lions on Alumni Field. Unfortunately for the Blue & Gold, the Lions came out on top with the 4-3 win.

The loss moves Windsor to 2-7-6 heading into their final game of the regular season on Sunday.

GAME FLOW
York came in strong during the first half offensively scoring the first goal 13 minutes in. Windsor upped their game when
Kaitlyn Austin scored a goal of her own at the twenty minute mark. The deadlock didn't last long, however, and the Lions scored just two minutes later to take a 2-1 lead.
Both teams battled for the ball for the remainder of the half until just near the end when the Lancers were awarded a penalty kick and
Kaylea Cunliffe tied it up at two heading into the half.
With an aggressive start to the second half, Windsor took the lead in the 71st minute with a goal from senior
Abby Hunt. The Lions stepped up their game defensively and in the 80th minute, Kiyani Johnson scored her second of the game to tie it up for the third time that day.
Â
Windsor continued to play strong and made several attempts to get past the York goalkeeper but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Near the end of the half, the Lions took over the Lancer defense scoring their fourth goal to earn the win.
