The Lancers women's volleyball team put on a spectacle at the St. Denis Centre as they contended with the defending national champion Ryerson Rams. However the Rams, who are ranked second in Canada, held of the Lancers to win the game in five sets (25-18, 22-25, 19-25, 25-18, 12-15).

Lexi Pollard led the Lancers with 18 kills, with Lauren Veltman equaling her for the Rams.

Brooke Davis set her team up for 45 assists, while also having a strong defensive game with 15 digs. Amie Slawson contributed 16 of her own digs, and Jade Ziebarth with 15.

GAME FLOW
The first frame saw strong offensive plays come from both sides of the court, with both teams delivering huge smashes to put points up on the board. The Lancers were able to dig in defensively to go on a run, giving themselves a seven point lead that they were able to hold onto to take the set 25-18.

Windsor was unable to control the hard smashes of the Rams early in the second set. After falling behind 17-12, the blue and gold began delivering some hits of their own but were unable to mount a comeback.

The two teams took turns smashing and digging as the third frame saw a lot of back and forth. The point differential stayed within two until a six-point run saw the Rams take the set 25-19.

The Lancers went on an impressive run, sending hard smashes that the Rams struggled to control, and came out with a quick 16-5 lead in the fourth frame. A Ryerson time out saw the Rams begin to narrow the deficit, but they were unable to crawl their way back, and the game was sent into a fifth set.

And impressive display from Lexi Pollard put the Lancers up 5-2 early on, as she sent consecutive kills past the Rams. However, a Ryerson timeout resulted in heavier guarding of Pollard, blocking two of her smashes back to back, and bringing the score back to even.

The two teams continued trading points, but it was the Rams that were able to pull away to win the final set 15-12.
