The Lancers women's volleyball team hosted the Brock Badgers for their home opener at the St. Denis Centre, where they took to the court wearing pink jersey's in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness day.

The Lancers fell to the Badgers in three straight sets (25-22, 25-11, 25-22) to fall to 1-2 on the year.

Lexi Pollard led the Lancers with 13 kills and a total of 14.5 points, while Brock's Laura Condotta led the game with 19.5.

Amie Slawson had a strong defensive game with eight digs, while Slawson also put up 10 points for the team.

The Lancers rose to an early lead in the first set as the Badgers scrambled to find a footing. Struggling to return the ball, the Badgers were forced to call a time out as they immediately fell down by five points.

Finding their rhythm following the time out, the Badgers climbed their way out of the deficit and took the set 25-22.

The second frame saw the Lancers struggle to compete with the Badgers strong attack, as a string of errors by the blue and gold saw Brock take a quick 10 point lead, which they maintained to win the set 25-11.

The Lancers came out energized for the third set, where long rallies that ended in strong kills saw the two teams trading points.

The end of the set saw the Badgers take a five point lead, but a last minute push by the blue and gold brought a new energy to the fans in attendance. Ultimately a stray serve from the Lancers saw the Badgers take the win, with the final set ending 25-22.
