GAME FLOW
The first set got off to an awfully tough start for the boys in Blue and Gold. McMaster jumped out the gates and pounced its way to a huge lead, forcing the Lancers to use two timeouts on route to an early 11-1 lead. The Lancers came out of the timeout and with the help of some McMaster service errors were able to claw their way to a more manageable deficit of 20-14. Despite getting back into the game, Windsor couldn't quite cut the shortfall, losing the set 25-18 and conceding a 1-0 lead in the match.
Â
The McMaster defense continued to give the Lancers offense fits to start the second set, severely limiting Windsor's ability to launch any real counterattacks or produce offense. The Lancers kept themselves in the game with long rallies and great team play to offset the offensive stalemate. Windsor pushed the issue late, led by a great set from Johnson, forcing McMaster into a timeout despite being up 24-23. Despite tying the set at 24, the Lancers couldn't complete the comeback falling down 2-0 in the match with a second set loss of 26-24.
Â
The third set was the best start for the Lancers as they kept the score close and taking their very first lead in the match 8-7. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep the momentum going as McMaster answered and refused to look back, building a 20-11 lead late in the set. The Lancers fought hard to avoid the sweep, getting as close as 24-20 but ultimately couldn't get close enough, dropping the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
