Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lancers dominate host Thunderbirds

The No. 9 Lancer women's basketball team dominated the host Algoma Thunderbirds in a pair of road games to Sault Ste. Marie over the weekend.

Windsor won Friday's night's contest 66-53 before almost doubling-up on the host Saturday 80-45. The wins put Windsor in a tie for first place with the McMaster Marauders, who also hold an 18-4 record.

FRIDAY
Although the Thunderbirds play a strong game against the Lancers, Windsor doubled up on the hosts 12-6 in the second quarter that ultimately led to the win.

Kayah Clarke came off the bench to lead Windsor with 15 points, while Emily Prevost was the only other Lancer to hit double digits with 10 points. Prevost also grabbed 12 rebounds for the games only double-double.

SATURDAY
Windsor dominated right off the opening tip, and outscored the hosts 14-8 in the opening ten minutes. Algoma pushed back throughout the second and third, but another strong fourth quarter by the Lancers that saw them put up 21 points to Algoma's 9, sealed the deal.

Prevost and Carly Steer each had 15 points for the Lancers, while Eve Uwayesu had 14 points for the Blue & Gold.

UP NEXT
Windsor returns to the St. Denis Centre for their final two games of the regular season. They host the Waterloo Warriors at 6:00pm Friday night, and the Brock Badgers at 4:00pm on Saturday.
