Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer doubles up on Brock; falls to MAC

The Lancer women's soccer team split their weekend road series.

On Saturday, the Lancers won a back and forth battle 2-1 over the Brock Badgers before falling by the same score to the McMaster Marauders on Sunday.

SATURDAY vs BROCK
Kaylea Cunliffe got things going fairly early in the match, opening the scoring in the 12th minute to give the Lancers an early lead. Despite being heavily out shot in the first half, the Lancers managed to keep their sheet clean and go into the first half with a lead.  The Lancers contended with being fouled eight times and fought off 11 shots from the offence-minded badgers.

In the second half, the Badgers kept pushing the pace, winning four corners in the half and putting five shots forward. The Badgers also pushed the limits, booking seven second half fouls and 15 for the game. In the 71st minute the home side finally broke through and Alysha Bonay scored to even the game up. The joy was short-lived however, Windsor's Cunliffe netted the game winner just six minutes later, winning the game for the Blue and Gold, 2-1.

Goal keeper Kristina Brooks put in a solid effort, making six saves while Brock's Emma Hendrie made three saves

SUNDAY vs McMASTER
The first break through of the game came late in the first half; in the 31st minute Hannah Chau-Stacey beat Brooks to put McMaster up by one. Despite the deficit, some of Brooks' work came in the first half, making seven saves for the Blue and Gold.  The Lancer's biggest woes came at the other side of the pitch where they only managed one shot in 45 minutes of action.

It wasn't long after the break when the Lancers gave up their second goal of the game, Amy Froome beat Brooks with Chau-Stacey booking an assist in the 59th minute. Later, in the 70th minute, it was the Lancers' turn to break through when Jamie O'Neil bested keeper Juliana Hifawi. Even with a more productive front end in the second half, the Lancers couldn't erase the deficit, falling 2-1 on the road.

Despite the loss, goal keeper Kristina Brooks put forth a frankly astonishing effort, making 13 saves on 15 shots. McMaster's Juliana Hifawi made three saves on four shots

The Marauders kept pressure all game, registering 24 shots for the game, the Lancers managed just four.
