In a two-game series against the Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay, the Lancer men's basketball team split the weekend with their opponents. Windsor fell 90-57 Friday and came back on Saturday to edge out an 80-78 win over the Thunderwolves Saturday.

FRIDAY
The Lancers struggled to hit shots early in the first quarter and their effort on the defensive end was also not where it needed to be. Windsor got themselves into a hole early and struggled not only to dig out but to stop the bleeding as well. Despite the Lancers early struggles, their defense was able to square up slightly, allowing the blue and gold to stay in the game helping the Lancers to a halftime deficit of just 44-28 despite only shooting 28 per cent on the half.
Â
The Lancers issues continued to plague them into the second half as they missed shots and couldn't grab rebounds to make second chance baskets. The Thunderwolves offense meanwhile continued scoring at a decent rate, extending their lead as the quarter continued, taking a 67-38 lead into the final 10 minutes of play. The Windsor offence showed some good things in the final quarter, but the damage was done as the Lancers took a tough road loss.
Â
SATURDAY
The Lancers and Thunderwolves both came out on fire, showing no sign of the offensive malaise that plagued both teams just one-night prior. The Lancers played from behind again for the first quarter but showed some signs of offensive production. After 10 minutes of play the blue and gold were behind just one point, 14-13. In the second quarter the Lancers offense slowed down but kept scoring to keep them in the game. Led by Isaiah Taylor and Lock Lam with eight points each, the Thunderwolves went into the half up 40-35.
Â
In the second half the Lancers offense came out on fire as their shooting percentage kept ticking up and up and up.
Telloy Simon gave the Lancers a huge spark coming off the bench with 17 points. The Lancers improved offense allowed them to keep pace with the Thunderwolves who now clung to a slim lead. Windsor kept pushing and late in the fourth took their first lead of the game. Despite losing the lead, the Lancers hung on with
Thomas Kennedy hitting a clutch hook shot with two seconds to go to earn the blue and gold the win, 80-78.
Â
Simon led all players with 17 points in the game. Lakehead was paced by Quincy Johnson's 14 points.
