GAME FLOW
Things got off to a rough start for the Lancers as Ryerson's Lauren Nicholson bested Jenkins to put the Rams up 1-0 just 29 seconds into the game. Despite the rough start the blue and gold took the game to the visitors, leading the Rams in shots early. Despite the productive offense, the Lancers went into the break down 1-0.
Â
In the second period it was the Lancers who got the early goal, less than five minutes into the period when
Samantha Spagnol beat Ryerson's Rachel Seeley to tie the game up. Although the Lancers continued to outshoot the Rams, Ryerson made their shots count going ahead with just under 10 minutes to go in the second when Laura Ball beat Jenkins. Windsor, however, just as they had all game, kept shooting and were able to tie the game up late in the period when
Jaclyn Kouleas scored to send the Lancers and Rams into the final period tied at two apiece.Â
Â
In the third period, the Lancers continued to dominate their opponents, but Seeley proved time and time again she was tough to beat. Ryerson again capitalized on one of their few scoring opportunities as Camryn Taite made quick work of a puck out in front, putting the Rams up 3-2. The Lancers, no strangers to coming from behind in this game managed to do it again, with
Reagan Kaufman getting one of the biggest goals of the Lancers season with just a minute to go to send the game into overtime.
Â
The Lancers, who had scored second all night, picked the perfect time to take their first lead of the game. Just 43 seconds into overtime
Meredith Goldhawk sealed the upset for a marquee win to start 2019.
