The Windsor Lancers dropped their last home game of the season to the McMaster Marauders 2-0 on Friday night. Prior to the game the Lancers honoured their graduating seniors
Keely Baggio, Lexi Provost, Abbi Palombo,
Kristina Brooks,
Mayah Facey and
Jessica Paglia.
Â
The Marauders got off to a lightning quick start in the first half when Lindsay Bosveld beat
McKenna Sajkowski in the 10th minute to put the visiting side up 1-0. The Lancers offense produced a couple quality looks as
Emma Miner had two breakaways in the first half, one being stopped by McMaster keeper Juliana Hifwai and the other was sent wide. The Lancer defense had their hands full the whole half, giving up multiple corners, however, they went into the break down just 1-0.
Â
The second half continued the defensive theme as both teams struggled to get any push up the field. Sajkowski was poised in the net, continuing to face plenty of corners, but as the game approached the 75-minute mark the keeper had atoned for her earlier goal allowed. The Lancers went to their bench late in the game, making a few subs to try and give themselves a more offensive presence. Unfortunately, the plan backfired as the blue and gold allowed a late goal and dropped the match 2-0.
