Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Windsor falls to Rams in Toronto

The Windsor Lancer women's hockey team is still looking for their first win of the season after falling 7-1 to the Ryerson Rams on Friday night in Toronto.

The Lancers and Rams were tied after the first period, but Ryerson hit a different gear in the last 40 minutes of the game, leaving the Lancers looking for answers.

GAME STATS
The Lancers had a good day on the penalty kill blanking the Rams on all four of their powerplays.

Goalie Jaydlin Spooner stopped 24 of 30 shots, while Brock's Fanny Vigeant stopped 22 of the 23 shots she faced.

GAME FLOW
The Rams scored first in the game when not even five minutes in Karli Numnikoski beat Spooner to get the scoring started and put Ryerson up 1-0. The Lancers however battled back, putting shots on Vigeant, hoping one would break through. Windsor's break came late in the period on the powerplay when Maggie Peterson beat Vigeant to tie the game. Going into the first intermission the Lancers felt good about the 1-1 score.

In the second the Lancers were locked down by the Ryerson defense, producing just five shots in the period. The Rams however, were finding offense in spades, scoring three goals in the period to take a commanding 3-1 lead into the third. The third period was all Ryerson again as the Rams scored another three goals including an empty netter to take the game 7-1.
