Â
The Windsor offense was on fire as the blue and gold also combined for 11 aces, improving to 2-1 on the season.
Â
GAME STATS
Sean Spencer was the best scorer on the floor with 12 kills, while the Warriors were led by Bennet Newell who scored eight kills to just two errors.
Â
Dami Alalade was a monster from the service line, scoring four aces with no errors. Waterloo's best server was Matthew Mawdsey who scored one ace with no error.
Â
Nolan Langley had himself a day, leading the match in assists with 35 and picking up an ace and two blocks. The Warrior passing was led by Colm Guyn with 17.
Â
GAME FLOW
The Lancers burst out to a strong start in the opening set. Alalade got things going with an ace and the Lancers never looked back, rocketing out to a 14-5 lead forcing the Warriors into a timeout. That timeout, followed shortly thereafter by the technical, did little to help the Warriors as the Lancers were hitting on all strides, committing just two errors as a team.
Pierce Johnson, Alalade,
Brad Gyemi and Spencer all had three kills as they took the first set 25-9.
Â
The Warriors came out much stronger in the second set, determine not to let the set get away from them early. The Lancers, however, took advantage of some Waterloo errors and jumped out to a 6-2 lead. Windsor's success from the service line continued as Alalade continued to be a force and Windsor raced towards the technical up 16-7. Â Coming out of the technical the Lancers continued to keep their foot on the gas, attacking Waterloo's Nolan Spencer and forcing three reception errors on their way to a 25-13 set win, going up 2-0.
Â
The Warriors had their strongest start in the third, taking their first lead over the blue and gold 6-5. Down in the third, the Lancers looked to a familiar face in
Brad Gyemi who delivered, sparking a Lancer run to gain some separation. The run was capped off by not one, but two Langley blocks to put the Lancers up 16-11. The Warriors came out of the break with a massive run to close the gap to just one, but Gyemi answered the run again with back to back kills to keep the Lancers out ahead as they went on to take the set and match 25-20.
