Â
GAME FLOW
The Lancers started slow in the first set, falling behind early 5-2 to the Warriors.
Lexi Pollard got the team going with a nice kill though and the Lancers began to climb their way back. The Warriors however responded, and gave Windsor trouble on defense, constantly putting the blue and gold outside of position as they approached the technical trailing Waterloo 13-10. Trailing 16-13 at the technical, Windsor came out of it strong, tying the game on a nice kill from
Kirsten Aasen. The Lancers battled down the stretch but couldn't overcome the length of the Warriors defense, falling 21-25 in the first set to go down 1-0 to the Warriors.
Â
Waterloo jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before rookie
Erin Dane gave the Lancers some life, holding serve as the Lancers fought back to stem the Warrior's momentum. Despite the great service from Dane, the Warriors continued to find spots and took a commanding 16-5 at the technical. Coming out of the timeout the Lancers made a valiant comeback effort, but the early hole was too big as they 15-25 and going down 2-0.
Â
The blue and gold had their best start to a set in the third, with an early 3-3 tie and even held a momentary lead. The Lancers used some great service line production, first with an ace from
Jenny Campbell and then two back to back aces from
Emma De Souza, showing a ton of life and leading 11-9. Unfortunately, the Lancers cooled down from the service line, allowing the Warriors to slip back out in front, 16-15 at the technical timeout. Â Despite a very competitive set Windsor is still looking for their first win at home, dropping the set 21-25 and the match in three straight sets.
