The Lancer men's hockey team rebounded on Saturday afternoon to defeat the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 4-1 in Oshawa, ON.
Â
With the win, the Lancers split the weekend series with the Ridgebacks and sit in second place in the OUA west division with an 8-2-0-1 record.
Â
GAME FLOW
Windsor was determined to avoid a repeat of the Friday night game the two teams played where the hosts came out on top. The afternoon tilt was a much more defensive conscious game, as the Lancers jumped out to the 1-0 lead within the first 10 minutes with a goal from
Ian Parker and were content with lock down defence after that.
Â
Much like Friday night, both teams allowed emotions to run high late in the second period, as the final frame began four-on-four. The Ridgebacks weren't deterred from the Lancers defensive style, maintaining a strong push for the tying goal. The home side evened the score just before the eight-minute mark of the third, but the Lancers showed why they are a top team in the OUA retaking the lead just over two minutes later with a goal from
Anthony Salinitri.
Â
Sean Olson and
Alex Friesen added two insurance markers late in the period to secure the victory for the blue and gold.
