Â
GAME FLOW
The first quarter was a defensive battle as both teams came out physical with the Ridgebacks taking an early, slim lead. Simon got things going for the Lancers with a three and shortly thereafter, Kenndy brought the house to its feet with a transition slam to put the Lancers up late in the first. However, Windsor had no breathing room, leading 17-16 after 10 minutes.
Â
The second quarter was an offensive explosion for the blue and gold as they scored 31 in the frame on the strength of some good transition offense and fantastic ball sharing. The Ridgebacks defense struggled to contain the Lancers but also floundered on offense themselves, making just four buckets in the second quarter. The strong play on both ends put the Lancers up 48-32 at half.
Â
Windsor came out with the same intensity in the second half, moving the ball and finding good looks. The Lancers hummed along, and their defense clamped down, allowing Ontario Tech to make just 40 per cent of their shots. Heading into the fourth quarter the Lancers built themselves a significant lead behind some great defense, good ball movement and timely shooting.
