GAME FLOW
The first period started off rather uneventful as both teams traded shots on goal early with a couple of good scoring chances. However, neither side could get past Reinhart nor the Waterloo netminder Trevor Martin as they turned away all the shots that came their way in the opening frame.Â
Â
In the second period, Waterloo opened the scoring finally managing to solve Reinhart by getting one past him on Halagian's goal to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead at the 13:37 mark. The Warriors would remain solid defensively not allowing the Lancers to respond and headed into the second intermission holding a firm one goal lead on the blue and gold.
Â
In the third period, the Lancers would not wait any longer to get on the board, as Logan put in his fifth goal of the year at the 3:37 mark in the period. Shortly after the Lancers managed to tie the game, they quickly added another goal scored by Barbosa at the 4:12 mark. Barbosa scored his second goal of the weekend as he had scored the night before against Laurier earning his fourth goal of the season putting the Lancers up 2-1.
Â
The Lancers would continue to apply pressure on the Warriors forcing them to bring out some of their emotions in the game which drew a penalty towards the Warriors and allowed the blue and gold a powerplay opportunity. Skinner made good on the opportunity picking up a powerplay marker at the 9:44 mark which ended up being the game winning goal in this one. Waterloo's Coulter would respond with a goal late in the period at the 16:07 mark but all it did was reduce the lead to one goal as the Lancers were able to hang on a secure their third consecutive victory and go 2-0 this weekend.
