Game Flow
The first set started out with both teams trading points going back and forth early on in the set. It would be not until the midway mark of the set that the blue and gold would capture control to lead themselves to victory in the first by a score of 25-19.
For the second set, the Lancers came out strong early on holding a 4-0 lead when then things started to get interesting again with both sides exchanging points with one another similarly to the first set. The Lancers however would break the spell and prevail after tying things off 25-21 and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set would begin differently though with York picking up most of the momentum early on looking to extend this match to at least another set. Consistent play by the Lions allowed them the chance to play another set taking it 25-22 making things interesting in the match as it sat at 2-1 Lancers. In the fourth set, York yet again maintained control and dominated in the set and were ambitious enough to force a 5
th set but they indeed did following a statement set win by a score of 25-14 which started to quiet down the hype crowd at the St. Denis Centre and allow them to chase their potential fourth straight win in a row.
The raucous crowd would come alive though in the fifth set and become the "7
th man" for the blue and gold. It was an unbelievable atmosphere to be in if you are a fan of the Lancers, probably the loudest volleyball crowd on the year to date for the women's game. The Lions were trapped in the Windsor madhouse and the Lancers managed to capitalize feeding off the energy provided by the crowd and sealed the deal in dramatic fashion with a fifth set win by a score of 15-12 terminating the Lions winning streak.
