GAME FLOW
In the first period, it was the Lancers who struck first quickly, as 13 seconds into the juncture Friesen scored to put the blue and gold up 1-0 right off the bat. However, the Golden Hawks would not be idle for too long as they were able to respond at the 2:42 mark in the period when Wiseman notched in his first on the night to knot things up at 1-1. Great saves by both goaltenders would allow the game to remain at a 1-1 stalemate after 20 minutes of play.
In the second frame, the goalies continued to dictate the game early in the period. This was the case until the Golden Hawks caught a spark that quickly escalated into a blaze shortly after scoring 4 unanswered goals to hold a 5-1 lead heading into the second intermission. To begin the breakdown of the Laurier markers, Anthony Sorrentino scored at the 8:22 mark on the power play to make things 2-1 for the Golden Hawks. While Anthony Conti closed the second period scoring for the Golden Hawks putting his team up 5-1 at the 12:33 mark. The purple and gold held all the momentum after 40 minutes of play.
The Lancers would come out of the gate though starting off the third period as Van Boekel sniped in his first of the season from the point at the 33 second mark into the third frame reducing the Laurier lead to three goals trailing 5-2. Reinhart would continue to make some huge saves in an effort to stop the bleeding and both teams would trade hits but ultimately the Lancers could not complete the miraculous comeback needed to pick up the Friday night home win. Instead, the Golden Hawks fired in one more into the empty net as Grayden Gottschalk iced the cake for Laurier to pick up the huge road win in Windsor.
