The Lancers also had two powerplay chances in the game's opening 20 minutes but neither team could figure the other's goaltender out. After a hard fought period it was a scoreless draw on the board.
Â
The second saw some scoring but it was the visitors celebrating the goals. First it was Nicole MacKinnon who beat Spooner, putting her Gryphons up 1-0. Later, on a Gryphons powerplay, Rylee Davidson beat Spooner to double Guelph lead not even five minutes into the period. The Lancers, to their credit got out of the period with a manageable 2-0 deficit.

The Lancers out-shot the Gryphons in the third period but Guelph's Davidson proved to be too good in net, stonewalling the Lancers for the entire period and earning a shutout on the game.
