The Windsor Lancers women's soccer team was swept at home this weekend. On Saturday the Lancers fell 2-0 to the Waterloo Warriors before falling 2-1 to the Brock Badgers on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.

The pair of losses move the Lancers to 1-6-1 on the season.

SATURDAY
Things started rough for the blue and gold as Ciara Dunne took the ball up field and put the Warriors ahead in short order, beating
Lauren Gellner in the second minute of the match to put the visiting side up 1-0 very early. The Lancers tightened up their defense and had some success pushing the ball up field but Waterloo protected their net, forcing Windsor to the drive wide and keep them from getting a quality look. Despite the back and forth action of the first 45 minutes, the early goal by Dunne was the difference as the Warriors went into the half up 1-0. Â
Â
The Warriors came out of the locker room and again made the Lancers pay with another quick strike, scoring in the 49th minute when Isabel Lynch beat Gellner to double the Warrior's lead. Waterloo kept the defensive intensity up for all 90 minutes, helping goal keeper Morgan Berg turn in the clean sheet along with a 2-0 win for the Warriors.

SUNDAY
The Badgers offense got off to a fast start Sunday afternoon, pushing the ball up the field and applying pressure to the Lancers defense early. The blue and gold defended well though, forcing many looks wide or tipping the ball before it got through to keeper
Kristina Brooks. In the 19th minute however, Melanie Schouten tipped a corner kick past Brooks to give the Badgers a 1-0 lead. The Badgers continued to control the pace of play, and were rewarded with multiple corner kicks, but after 45 minutes, the score remained 1-0 into the break.
Â
The Lancers were much better on the ball in the second half. After the Badgers tilted the pitch early, Windsor returned the favour in the second half and looked to tie the game up. In the 57th minute the Lancers did just that, as
Sophia Ferrazzo hammered one past the Badgers' keeper to tie the game. The Lancers battled hard but were ultimately done in by Arnelle Douglas' 72nd minute goal. The Lancers had chances to tie the game but couldn't, falling to the Badgers 2-1.
