Lancers earn point over weekend doubleheader

The blue and gold earned a point over the weekend in a pair of home and away games. On Friday the Lancers battled to a 1-1 draw with Waterloo before losing a tough one at home to the Western Mustangs 3-0.

FRIDAY
The Lancers gave up a late first half goal in the 43rd minute. However, after the break, the blue and gold evened things up when Sophia Ferrazzo blasted one past the Warriors keeper. Both the Lancers and Warriors finished the game out playing strong defense, finishing the game in a hard fought 1-1 draw.

SUNDAY
The blue and gold took the ball upfield early in the game, earning a quick corner but failing to convert. The Mustangs, to their credit, mitigated many of the Lancer attacks making sure no good looks got to their keeper. Western got some offense going too and tested Windsor keeper Kristina Brooks but she held strong keeping the game scoreless. After 45 minutes the game was no different than when it began at 0-0.

The second half, however, was all purple. The Mustangs came into the half with a clear plan on how to best advance and score. In the 67th minute their plan came into fruition with a goal by Hannah Vickers. The Western offense kept the pressure up and scored again in the 75th minute, this time Maddy Skinner got the goal. Giulia Geraci wrapped things up for the Mustangs with a top corner goal in the 87th minute to secure the win.

UP NEXT
Up next the Lancers head to Guelph to take on the Gryphons on Sunday, October 6th, kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
