The Windsor Lancers men's basketball team dropped their road game against Brock 93-71 Saturday night after a long day of travel.
Â
Despite a winter storm that made travel difficult, the Lancers got out to a good start, but lethargic offence in the middle two quarters sunk the Lancers hopes of a second impressive win in a row. The loss drops Windsor to 7-7 in OUA play.
Â
GAME STATS
Brock's Tyler Brown led the game in scoring, dropping 30 points on 69 per cent shooting. The Lancers were led by
Thomas Kennedy who scored 18 on 46 per cent shooting.
Â
Kenney also double-doubled, pairing his 18 points with 12 boards.
Â
Shakael Pryce and Brock's Daniel Carter both led the game in assists with five each.
Â
GAME FLOW
The Lancers came out on fire in the first quarter, pushing the pace and hitting their looks. Jordan Fullerton and Kennedy led the charge for the Lancers, who were on pace to score 120 after a 30-point first quarter. Something changed between quarters for the blue and gold though as their offensive output nosedived. Despite holding the Badgers to just 33 per cent from the field, the Lancers were outscored 17-10 in the second quarter. At half, the Lancers held a slim 40-33 lead.
Â
The third quarter was an unfortunate repeat of the second for the Lancers, as their offence started the second half in the mud. The blue and gold shot just 18 per cent from beyond the arc in the second half, but more concerning was the 65 per cent field goal percentage they were giving up. Despite the Lancers' scoring issues, they also had problems guarding Tyler Brown, who exploded for 22 points in the second half, carrying his Badgers to a 93-71 win.
