Windsor Basketball closes out regular season with loss to Western

The Windsor Lancers took the Western Mustangs down to the wire in London Saturday evening, but came up on the wrong side of a 92-89 thriller.

Windsor ends the regular season with an 11-11 record.

GAME STATS
The Lancers were led offensively by Thomas Kennedy who dropped 23 points, while Telloy Simon double-doubled with 18 points and a game leading 11 rebounds.

Western's Julian Walker led all scorers with 28 points on 83 per cent shooting. The Lancers won the battle on the glass, besting the Mustangs in rebounds 28-22.

GAME FLOW
The Lancers got out to a hot start when Shakael Pryce nailed his first look of the game, a very deep three, giving the blue and gold a 5-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game.  Windsor went on an 8-0 run before the Mustangs got on the board. From there the host kept the quarter close, and Windsor held a narrow 23-21 lead after one. The second quarter wasn't as hot for Windsor as they battled back and forth with the Mustangs for the first half of the quarter. After the 5:00 mark of the second quarter, Western built a lead of their own. Despite leading early, the Lancers trailed at halftime, 46-39.

The third quarter was an up and down affair for Windsor. The blue and gold were led by Kennedy in the second half, who scored 20 in the back end of the game, including two rim rocking dunks. Going into the fourth quarter, the Lancers had played their way to a tie with the Mustangs at 70. Windsor grabbed a late lead but fell victim to a late Mustangs run, making for a tight finish. In the dying seconds of a tie game, the Lancers committed a fatal foul, putting the Mustangs at the line where Eriq Jenkins sealed the game, 92-89.
