Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Windsor drops heart breaker in shootout to No. 6 Rams

The Windsor Lancers men's hockey team suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 shootout loss to the No.6 Ryerson Rams Friday night on home ice.

The blue and gold showcased a surplus of heart, scoring two goals late in the third period to force the game into overtime. Unfortunately they couldn't keep the offensive momentum going, losing in a 10 round shootout. The loss is the latest in a late season slide for the Lancers but the blue and gold remain focused on the playoffs.

GAME STATS
Jonathan Reinhart made 21 saves on 24 shots for the Lancers, while Ryerson's Taylor Dupuis made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Brennan Feasey scored two goals for the Lancers and was assisted by Kody Gagnon on both.

The Lancer powerplay was money, scoring on three of their six chances on the night.

GAME FLOW
The first period was a goal keepers duel as Reinhart and Dupuis went toe-to-toe, blanking the opposing skaters for the entirety of the period. Reinhart made eight saves while Dupuis stopped 11. After 20 minutes it was a scoreless draw.

The second period didn't take long to see a goal when Matthew Santos beat Reinhart, giving his Rams a 1-0 lead just 2:09 into the period. Six minutes later, the Lancers responded in kind while on a powerplay when Brennen Feasey  scored his 11th goal of the season on the power play. The tie lasted all of four minutes, when at the 13:08 mark, Devon Paliani restored the Rams lead, making it 2-1 going into the break.

The Rams added a third goal when Santos scored again just 88 seconds into the third. Down two, the Lancers didn't stop fighting and forced a penalty just past the midway point of the period. Shortly thereafter, Anthony Salinitri scored his ninth of the season, drawing the Lancers to within one. Just minutes later, the Rams committed another penalty and the Lancers cashed in again with Feasey getting his second on the game tying it for the blue and gold and sending the game to overtime.

Through seven minutes of overtime, the two sides were still knotted at three a piece. Windsor had chances, putting four pucks on net but Dupuis stood tall, forcing a shootout. The shootout was hotly contested affair. Trent Fox scored the first goal in eight round but Ryerson's Patrick Fellows matched it. Later, after Ben Assad failed to score, Ryerson's Brandon Glover ended the game, beating Reinhart for the 4-3 win.
