WHAT: Virtual 5K run, walk, or bike in support of anti-racism efforts and the Black Lives Matter movement.
 
Our Lancer family welcomes many BIPOC athletes every year and we want to continue to increase their representation, well-being and success while offering a safe and welcoming environment. Of the 48 U SPORTS women's basketball teams in Canada, there are only 21 female head coaches, including 7 BIPOC. The fundraised dollars will be accumulated to create an internship position for a BIPOC female hoping to pursue a career in coaching through the Sandwich Teen Action Group (STAG).

STAG is a community group that provides programming for youth, ages 13-19, to find support, cope with problems and lead healthy lives. This program addresses poverty, isolation, racism and hunger in minority and at-risk youth. They provide positive role models and mentors for proactive learning, advocating healthy relationships and respect for oneself and others.

WHY: We are organizing this event because we feel that it is important to bring action to our statements in support of anti-racism; to use our platform within the Windsor-Essex community to create positive change and to continue the conversation. We also want to take a stance and be active in helping to end systemic racism.
 
WHEN: Sunday September 27^th, 2020.
The event will run the entire day so that participants can register and complete the run, walk or bike anytime during the day. Upon completion, participants are asked to post the location of their run on social media, tagging @windsorwbb on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook and adding the hashtag #Lancers4AntiRacism
 
WHERE: This event is virtual and can take place where participants feel most comfortable.
 
REGISTRATION: We are requesting a minimum donation of $20 for registration and a tax receipt for the donation will be issued upon request.

T-SHIRTS: Participants can purchase an event t-shirt for a special price of $20 inclusive of HST, when registering for the race. Regular price is $25 + HST.
