GAME FLOW:
The game did not go the way of the blue and gold from the start. On the second play of the game senior quarterback
Sam Girard was sacked which led to a Mustang interception and touchdown. Girard was injured on the play and after one more snap left the field for the remainder of regulation. Skelton entered the game and held his own against the nationally ranked Mustangs.
Â
Western led 40-0 at the half. Â
Â
In the fourth quarter, the Lancers made good efforts to open opportunities to gain steps into Mustang territory but were unable to find the endzone. Their best drive of the quarter came when Skelton made several great passes to
Matthew James for a gain of eleven yards, and another to
Callin Bethune to move up 28 yards towards the goal line. Although the blue and gold team tried to push for a breakthrough, the Mustangs won the game 66-0.
