Men's Volleyball splits weekend series with Warriors

The Lancer men's volleyball team split a weekend series with the Waterloo Warriors following an impressive 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 25-20, 27-25) win over the host team Saturday night on the road.

STATS
Windsor's Gustavo Siqueira led the team offensively with 12 kills. Also in double digits, Luca Nastase and Sean Spencer had a great night contributing 10 total kills each, while Anthony DeGirolamo had a leading 33 assists for the blue and gold.

GAME FLOW
In the first set, the Lancers came back refreshed and ready to bring the heat as they faced the Warriors in a rematch from Friday. As they got off to a late start, Windsor knew they needed to remain focused and find openings on the court. Both Zack Adams and Nastase showed off their skills to gain points with multiple kills and keep the momentum going for the team. The first set determined the direction the Lancers were headed to with a win in their hands for the set, 25-23.

For the second set, Windsor hoped to keep their pace up and capitalize their plays but the Warriors were not ready to give up so easily and pulled points back-to-back. From the service line, Dami Alalade helped to try to keep off the Warriors with strong blocks and match off the errors the Lancers began to make, struggling to keep up. The second set finished off as the Warriors managed to take the set 25-16 and equalize the field.

The third set propelled the Lancers to get back and take the lead and things seemed to tighten up between the teams with a one point gap after every score. The blue and gold retained their momentum to gain back the advantage, 25-20.

In the final set, the squad remained calm to continue their aggressive offense and hold off the Warriors. Spencer made strong plays and assists to make a positive impact for the team with the execution of his powerful hits that the Warriors could not respond to. Things played out in the Lancers favour and capped off a victory with a 27-25 set win.
