The Windsor Lancers are pleased to announce that three members of the Lancer football program have been recognized by Ontario University Athletics for their tremendous play this season.
Â
Running back
David Adeniran, defensive tackle
Zack Benson, and halfback
Andrew Beatty were all named to the OUA's second all-star team.
Â
On the offensive side of the ball, Adeniran finished the season fifth overall in the conference in rushing with 415 yards on the ground and was regularly Windsor's top offensive performer. He also placed sixth overall in the OUA with 69.2 rushing yards per game.
Â
Beatty wrapped up his season as the conference's leader in tackles per game with 7.4 and saw his 37 total tackles in just five games to rank third overall. The veteran halfback also led the league with 30 of those tackles coming as solo efforts, while also chipping in with 2.5 tackles for a loss, one interception, and one pass breakup.
Â
Benson was the true anchor of the Lancers defensive line and rounds out the blue and gold contingent with a bounty of backfield havoc to his name. He consistently went against the top offensive linemen from opposing team to kept the Lancer linebackers free to make plays. As part of his 14.5 total tackles this season, 4.5 of them came for a combined loss of 17 yards and his 2.5 sacks sent the opposition back 13 yards on the year.
Â
"Our entire Lancer football program is proud of their accomplishments," said head coach
Jean-Paul Circelli. "These are three young men who have played several seasons with the blue and gold and we are so happy to see their years of hard work be celebrated within the OUA."
