GAME FLOW
The Lancers got off to a rough start as the Warriors managed to find the back of the net less than a minute of regulation. Waterloo was off to a heated start playing with aggression with most of the play occurring in Lancer territory. After tripping call on Warrior David Radke,
John Wesley made good use of the powerplay opportunity with Windsor best scoring chance of the period but was unable to get by Sime. Waterloo led 1-0 after the first period.
Â
Into the second, the Warriors continued to capitalize on their plays as the Lancers struggled to get opportunities. The Warriors went up 3-0 before
Mason Kohn netted one for the blue and gold to reduce the visitor lead to two. Waterloo continued to control the pace of the game and went into the break up 3-1.
Â
Both teams illustrated their strong defensive side throughout the third. Halfway through the period,
Brady Hinz was able to direct the puck into the net with assists by
Holden Wale and
Matt McNamara to bring the Lancers within one. Lancer head coach
Kevin Hamlin pulled Giesbrecht in favour of the extra man in an attempt to tie the game, but the Warriors found the empty net with less than a minute remaining to secure the win.
