The Lancer men's hockey team returned home to the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex for the first time this season and took down the visiting Western Mustangs 4-1.
 
After the first week of regular season play, the Lancers are 2-0 on the year.

Brady Pataki led the way for the blue and gold with two goals, while Brady Hinz and Mason Kohn scored Windsor's other two.
 
Goaltender Noah Giesbrecht was a force on the ice today, saving 46 out of 47 shots that came his way.
 
GAME FLOW
Windsor came out on all cylinders scoring just four minutes into the game. However, the net came off the post just before it crosse the line and the goal was called back. That did not deter the blue and gold, and just one minute later, Pataki scored his first of the year to out the hosts up 1-0.
 
Western brought some pressure throughout the period but Giesbrecht and the Lancer defense stood firm, giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
 
Windsor killed off a penalty to start the second and once at full strength went on the attack. Five minutes into the period, Windsor earned their first of two powerplay goals to go up 2-0.
 
The Mustangs attempted to come out in the third period and change the momentum of the game with Brett Jacklin scoring a power play goal at 5:18 of the frame.
 
The Lancers, however, were not phased as they displayed mental toughness and Giesbrecht stood his ground turning away some great Western opportunities. With a little over five minutes left in the game, the Lancers took advantage of the powerplay they were given and extended their lead to two goals with Hinz's first of the season. Brady Pataki added an empty net goal with just over a minute left to give Windsor the 4-1 lead.
