GAME FLOW
In a fast-pace game, the Lancers struggled to get off on the right foot as the visiting Golden Hawks would take the offensive side of the ball. Within the first two minutes of the game, Laurier is able to put themselves up on the board with a shot by fullback Jyanessa Sealy. Laurier was able to get another shot in the 14th minute to make it 2-0 by Hope Windebank. The blue and gold felt the pressure put on by the Golden Hawks after receiving a free kick due to a penalty and
Aislynn Essibrah is unable to find an opening as Isama made the save. Windsor trailed 2-0 at halftime as they looked to convert in the second half of play.
Â
After the break, the blue and gold looked to increase their scoring chances by turning on the jets and creating opening space. The crowd went up when the Lancers best chance found the net but the officials called it offside, causing frustration for the squad. However, a late goal off a corner kick from Essibrah helped close the gap to make the score 3-1. Unfortunately even with Windsor showing some promise to set up for another goal, time ran out and they took a 4-1 loss.
