GAME FLOW
The Lancers got on the board first when kicker
Brady Lidster made a massive 48-yard field goal attempt to put the Lancers up 3-0. With two minutes remaining in the first quarter, Windsor put their offensive line to work as running back
Joey Zorn caught a 26-yard reception from Danny Skeleton and ran it into the Waterloo's endzone. The blue and gold led 11-0 at the end of the first.
Â
Going into the second quarter, the Lancer defense and offense got together to swallow up every possible Warrior chance they could. At the 2nd and 7,
Maceo Christmas intercepted Waterloo's quarterback Nolan Kaban's pass to return it 21-yards and fire up the crowd. Shortly after, Zorn went off again to rush 23 yards for his second touchdown of the game to give Windsor a 20-0 lead. The Lancers continued to take advantage of their drives and capped off another opportunity when
Josh Shim connected with
Muftah Ageli for a touchdown. As the blue and gold held possession of the ball for a majority of the 2nd quarter, they showed the Warrior's their confidence to generating plays when the pressure was on and went into the half up 31-3.
Â
In the last half of the game, the Lancers started their drive with a 23-yard carry by
Joey Zorn. The teams could feel the tension as the physicality increased and a penalty was made for unsportsmanlike conduct from the Warriors.
Breton MacDougall would intercept Linn's pass for his second time of the day and allow for a quick turnover. In the final play,
Chris Tshikuna gained 8 yards for a 1st down and in that time, the blue and gold knew they secured the victory and spot in the playoffs with a final score of 39-11.
