The Lancer women's basketball team dropped a 70-64 overtime loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday night on the road.
 
With the loss, the Lancers are now 2-2 on the season.

Julia Chiarot led the Lancers with 14 points, while Vanessa Budimunda had a team high seven rebounds.
 
GAME FLOW
In the first half, the Lancers got off to a quick start against the Warriors. Reine Ndome went on a fast break after a steal to get the blue and gold up on the board first. Windsor found themselves struggling to make offensive plays and the Warriors would force the Lancers into a timeout to recollect themselves. The officials added 3 seconds back onto the clock after an offensive foul was called as time was expiring but nothing came of it. As Waterloo continued to add onto their lead, Windsor trailed 22-15 in the first quarter. 
 
With the Lancers finding their stride, Mariama Dehkissia added to the scoreboard with a jump shot that looked way too easy. As the blue and gold started to pick up the offense, all the work during the off-season was put on display as they gradually closed the gap. Windsor made it clear they did not want to settle in this game and went on a run to cut the Warriors lead, but trailed 33-27 at the half.
 
The third quarter was a battle on both ends. Maggie Denys hit a three to keep the score close, 43-41,  with a couple minutes left in the quarter and the blue and gold only trailed by one, 45-44, heading into the fourth quarter.  
 
With one minute left in the final quarter and the game tied at 53-53, Julia Chiarot pushed through the Waterloo traffic to hit the basket and put Windsor up by two 57-55. Yet a foul on Vanessa Hughes gave the Warriors another opportunity and hit both free throws to tie the game up again, 57-57.
 
Off to a strong start in overtime, Waterloo took an early lead before Chiarot reached double-digit after two successful free throws to tie the game. In the final minute of the game, the Waterloo Warriors broke away from the Lancers and took the game, 70-64.
