Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Windsor drops pair of games to nationally ranked opponents

The Lancer men's basketball team dropped a pair of road games in the nation's capital this weekend in Ottawa.

The blue and gold fell 98-76 to the No. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens on Friday, and 74-66 to the No. Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday.

With the losses, the Lancers are now 6-2 on the season.

FRIDAY
Windsor went into the game firing on all cylinders as Ziphion Grant, Thomas Kennedy and Lorenzo Barbieri made some big shots to give Windsor a 19-16 lead after the first quarter. In the second, the Ravens came out with a higher intensity level and built up a 49-36 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, the Lancers had a number of tremendous scoring opportunities and buckets, but their attempts to hold off the Ravens fell short and the blue and gold remained down 70-62 heading into the final quarter of play.

Trying to respond late in the game, the Lancers had difficulties capitalizing on plays as the Ravens slowly pulled away. Najee Brown-Henderson shot an impressive three, but Windsor was still left with plenty of work to do. Unable to find their groove, the blue and gold took a disappointing 98-76 loss against the Ravens to give them their first loss of the season.

Brown-Henderson finished the game with 26 points, while Kennedy had 18 points and 9 rebounds.

SATURDAY
Windsor had their hands full again Saturday night against the nationally ranked Gee-Gees. Kennedy and Brown-Henderson hit a few key shots in the first quarter, but the hosts controlled the floor and doubled-up on the blue and gold 20-10 heading at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Windsor was unable to slow down the Ottawa offense to start the frame. Brown-Henderson made a couple of clutch mid-range shots that would put the Lancers back in the game. Windsor was only down seven heading into the half, 35-28.

Windsor came out firing on all cylinders to open the second half and took a 45-40 lead halfway through the third quarter. After an Ottawa time-out, the hosts regrouped and battled back and held a narrow 55-53 lead after 30 minutes of play.

The final quarter was another tough battle that say the Gee-Gees pull away late in the game and take the win 74-66.
