Strong second halves lift Lancers over host Thunderbirds

The Lancer men's basketball team defeated the Algoma Thunderbirds in a pair of games over the weekend in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
 
Windsor defeated the Thunderbirds 88-63 on Friday night and followed that up with a ENTER SCORE win on Saturday to start the season with a perfect 3-0 record.
 
FRIDAY
Trailing 37-35 at halftime, the Lancers dominated the final twenty minutes. The blue and gold scored 53-26 to take over the court and earn the win.
 
Thomas Kennedy had an outstanding night, leading all scorers with 25 points and an unbelievable 22 rebounds. Najee Brown-Henderson and Daniel Cummings both put up 16 points for the blue and gold while Yohann Sam and Xavier Ochu also hit double digits with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
 
The difference maker was Windsor out-rebounding the Thunderbirds 55-23 in the contest.
 
SATURDAY
Things started a little differently for the blue and gold Saturday night, as they hit 27-points in the first ten minutes, and another 30- points in the second quarter. Windsor led 57-30 at the half.
 
Algoma came out strong in the third quarter and cut their deficit to just 19-points heading into the fourth. However, the blue and gold had other things in mind as they hit triple digits with another 27-point performance in the final quarter.
 
Ziphion Grant was on fire for the Lancers, scoring a season high 28 points. Kennedy had his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Brown-Henderson had 19 points on the night.
